Motion - To distribute information on CRD’s public consultation on deer impacts to the membership and through the welcoming committee to new residents

  1. Councillor’s Report

1.     GY is meeting with staff 2011/10/13 regarding issue of grade manipulation.

2.     OCP regulations haven’t addressed existing corner store zonings, although there are none in Rockland Neighbourhood

3.     Question – (BJ) Johnson Street Bridge width reduction for budget savings? (Federal Government onside with that).

4.     Gonzales - Chadwick Place  - request for larger house – public meeting scheduled.

  1. Business arising from the minutes

1.     DC got MS Office for board business

2.     Traffic calming report – abbreviated report went into the newsletter; full report to the website.

 

  1. Committee Reports

Land Use

No meeting. Committee will generate a list of questions for candidates.

 (DH) Effect of recent construction on Despard  – affecting social well-being of the neighbourhood. – Not just the ambience – affecting the spirit (no block party this year).

GY brought 2 copies of the draft Downtown Core Area Plan (DC and DH have, and will bring them to the next board meeting so that others can read.)

 

                        Communications

Newsletter went out 2011/10/12. DC to send out hard copies to those without email. Extra copies to welcoming committee for distribution

 

Garden

Snowberry reduction. New plants bought at Swan Lake sale

 

                        Membership – Welcome committee quiet this month. Current membership at 157 members.

 

  1. New Business:

·      Ethelyn McInnis-Rankin reports that the CRD is collecting information on Deer impacts. Send comments to deermanagement@crd.bc.ca
