Action – JS Draft letter to city manager regarding potential park or trail between Despard and Montgomery

Action – DC  talk to immediate neighbours of Despard property to identify issues, gauge support

Action – VD incorporate feedback into Strategic Planning document

Action – DC draft introductory letter for Strategic Planning document

·      Welcome Committee pamphlet

o   Gone to the Printers.

·      Strategic Planning

o   VD will incorporate edits from BJ regarding Land Use, and from DC regarding other small items.

o   DC will write a cover letter to introduce the document to the membership, with a view to soliciting feedback that the board can discuss before generating a version for consideration at February 2015 AGM.

·      All Candidates Meeting

o   Candidates have tables set up for "courtyard cafe", then leading mayoral candidates have statement, followed by q & a.

o   Discussed questions for mayoral candidates

o   RNA will send a set do questions to all candidates and any responses received

o   Will be published on the web page and promoted through the list serve.

 

 

  1. Councillor’s Report

·      1540 Despard (lot runs to Montgomery) proposes an easement carved off an existing lot to give tax relief for owner, owners family. Michael Meade potential inheritor, wants to keep the house and reduce the lot for lowered assessment.

ACTION  RNA draft letter to City manager, cc to acting parks director Julie MacDougal

o   Canvas adjacent neighbours to see how they would feel to be next door to a park.

·      City supports Ken Milbraith’s proposal for Government House initiative to put a gate in southern fence along Richardson

o   City would provide link to city infrastructure. Jamie Hammond will take it to FOGH Garry Oak Meadow group.

·      1745 Rockland went to council

o   Proponent asked to reduce to 6 units, come back with new proposal.

·      1082 Richmond

o   Design Advisory Committee recommendations

§  Ground floor privacy

§  Rain gardens

§  Increase height of main floor ceilings

§  Change address to Oak bay avenue

§  Oak bay set back

§  Common rooftop garden is amenity for residents only

·      1381 Craigdarroch proponent Scott Thompson wants to rezone, subdivide, modify existing single family dwelling and build a new single family dwelling.

o   Community meeting on October 15th.

o   Initial notice to neighbours flawed, needs revision

o   Issues: preserve neighbours oak, beware disruption of drainage.

·      BJ converse with Ross Borland. Private Wine store near Beans coffee shop in South Jubilee. Oak Bay Avenue behind the Fort Street Canada Post Office. Tom Selgren not in favour of it.

 

·      St Matthias daycare goes to City Council tomorrow night. Covenant for alder hedge.

 

·      1070 Joan Crescent. Craigdarroch Castle (1050 Joan Crescent) proposes to use this building as the entrance foyer for the Castle.

o   expand 800 square feet

o   Public meeting November 5th.

Land Use

o   1082 Richmond

§  “Built Green” is an amenity in response to increased density.

§  Advisory Design Panel had concerns including building footprint, exterior appearance, balconies.

§  Developer will review those comments and propose modifications and/or provide rationale.

§  Next step will be the Public Hearing / Council meeting

 

Communications.

·      HE will develop a newsletter, but needs more content.

 

Membership and Welcome

·      5  Welcome committee visits this past month.
