Summary of motions and actions:

 

Motion – Draft a letter to VicPD, follow up to previous communications, request a meeting regarding speeding violations.

Action – RG will review previous information regarding noise complaints and contact police and bylaw officer.

Action -  Follow up on the letter to City and Council regarding parkland in Rockland (including list of potential properties for Pemberton Trail.

Action - Don’t alert the listserve about letters sent by the board until the letter is posted on the website.

Communications

o   No report

 

Land Use

o    1745 Rockland is on hiatus – no new revisions to their previous plan.

o   852 St Charles – Carriage House development. Set backs below minimum; garden suites only for single family dwellings, but City wants to make a one-time exception. Issue will go to public meeting.

o   1322 Rockland. Requesting conversion to 15 Boarding units, 14 Rooming units and 3 Housekeeping units entails a change in use and density. City does not require rezoning.

o   1082 Richmond back into discussions with the City regarding parking access, massing.

 

Social.

 

Traffic

·      Royal Terrace – completed the no parking zones – no parking east side of street (north half), no parking west side (south half). Adjacent south side of Craigdarroch, west of Royal is new no parking zone.

·      RG – Richmond north of Quamichan is 40 km zone and could use enforcement.

·      If we write a letter, reference communications over the past few years

Motion To draft a letter to VicPD, follow up to previous communications, request a meeting regarding speeding violations. (RG/BJ)      Carried unanimously.

Membership and Welcome

·      New member appreciated the welcome package.

 

Garden

o   No report.

 

Safety – (Emergency Preparedness / Block Watch) 

o   RG and Mike Mabey will be invited to the next Block Watch Captains meeting

o   Invite local Block Watch Captains to the September RNA Board Meeting

o   RG and MM met with Police Board. Community Safety Act will give a safe point of contact for anonymous complaints

o   ACTION: RG will review November minutes; talk with Eileen Nurmi and contact Police/Bylaw officer to encourage action on noise complaints.

 

  1. New Business

·      David Hambleton resigned from the Land Use Committee and the Board – cutting down on volunteer activities.

·      Don Hamilton concerned that he wasn’t able to post letters to the webpage in a timely fashion. ACTION – don’t alert the membership until the letter is posted.

·      In general we have to recruit into the communications portfolio. Committee chair is vacant, and we should have back-up for Don and Catherine.
