Meeting called to order at 19:05

 

  1. Agenda

            Motion to accept as amended  (JW/BJ)

 

  1. Councilors Presentation

            Victoria 150  budget of approximately $280,000.

            Approximately $40,000. for Community Grants, $100,000. to Arts Groups, $100,000. for           Policing, Promotion, Civic Events, $60,000. for visiting Dignitaries.

 

            Draft Official  Community Plan to Council for preliminary Discussion Wednesday, June 27th.

            PCC and city lands appear to be retained as a land bank for future development

            Float Plane parking appears to be guaranteed which Ben suggested was shortsighted

                       

            Tour Buses;  noise bylaw is unenforceable (buses are moving, bylaw is for stationary noise)

           

            Dumpsters on Linden have a one hour window to be emptied

 

            City recently purchased a LIDAR data  package(ground cover and height data) last quarter @       approximately for approximately $2,500..

 

            Janet Simpson to Ben; Water issues in yards on Warren Garden immediately below the      Development on Dysart. Ben suggested a letter to Mayor and council

 

            Bill Brooks sent a request for follow up on variance permitting the front yard parking in   Richardson @ Oak Bay development. (JW) supported parking issue stating that it was to close        to a main thoroughfare and would likely cause accidents

  1. Business Arising From the Minutes:

            (JW)The Garden Suite proposal for 1652 Richmond has some neighbors concerned about parking.

            The city has proposed that the entrance face the public pathway linking Warren Gardens and       Richmond. JW noted pathway has drainage problems, probably caused by drainage issues off     of the Dysart development.

           

            JW said the A. & K. Malczyk  1598 Rockland development did not go before the Land Use

            Committee

 

  1. Committee Reports:

Communications;  Newsletter completed. Very good response to recycling article.

 

            Membership:

            Membership packages delivered to 4 homes on Warren & Richardson in conjunction with the        1652 Richmond Garden Suite discussion.

 

            Traffic:

            Bonnie Myers (guest) joining traffic committee.

            NC brought a preliminary proposal before the directorship to sign the entrance roads to    Rockland with the idea that this might help to slow traffic if people are aware they are entering a residential neighborhood

            NC will investigate parking bylaws; re: parking in front of own residence.

 

            Graffiti: no report

 

            Garden:

            Snow berry bush eradication underway. Volunteers for 2nd cut of snow berry bush would be          appreciated. Sue Simpson, Father Anthony and JS the works detail to date.

 

            Social:

            Waiting for Jermy Brownridge @ government House to return to discuss Vic150 Sept. 8th event

            Volunteers will be needed for Vic150 event

            A neighborhood wide Garage Sale August 18th is proposed by our Vic150 committee with a           view to promote to attendees our Sept. 8th Vic150 event

            JS requested that we approach Government House to host a Summer Wine & Cheese        membership event. Suggested dates July 1 -13th, 23 -29th.

 

  1. Communications: Letters, Email, Phone calls             All Directors

JS will attend May 1, 2012 Police Board meeting to discuss general policing in Rockland

 

  1. New Business:

Davey Tree Service is offering a 12% Discount to RNA  membership.

Motion       JS/JW       moved that we accept Davey Tree Service offer of discount to membership and that we will support it with a business card advertisement in the RNA newsletter.
