Meeting of the Board of Directors

Summary of motions and actions:

Action – (BJ) contact Langham Court to see if they would like to renew their membership for 2013.

Action – All committees – think ahead to propose budget items for 2013

Action – (DC) send out invites to Council, staff, community organizations.

  1. Councillor’s Report

·      Transportation task force for pedestrian and cycling issues. Safety issues, strategic approach to achieve equitable use of available funds and resources. RNA should engage residents and work towards identifying local issues. Traffic bulbs at the west end of Despard can be carried over from the previous wish list.

·       Deer Management Plan has been approved at CRD – there are two approaches, one for rural and one for urban areas.

AGM Planning

·      From last year’s feedback, the booklet should be available a few weeks early. Deadline for submissions (reports, biographies) is January 31st.

·      Speaker invitation has been accepted by Danda Humphreys

·      Jon Tupper will speak to planned renovations at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria

·      Use Maps for feedback – the new zoning maps and post-it notes for comments on traffic, greenways, .

·      Invites to councilors, city staff, community cultural organizations.

 

Memberships in Rockland Cultural Organizations

 

·      The AGGV has become a member

·      ACTION Langham Court Theatre not a member in recent years, but had a membership in 2006 and 2007.

·      Friends of Government House have renewed their membership for 2012 and 2013.

 

 

  1. Committee Reports

 

Land Use

·      Meeting on January 17th with our liaison, Helen Cain.

·      Reviewing grade manipulation proposals from the City. Retaining walls will have more regulation; soil movement will not be regulated. The measurement of grade and its relation to building height will be specified more specifically.

·      When we have a public meeting, we should follow up with the registered attendees with the eventual letter RNA sends to council.

 

                        Membership –

·      Welcoming Committee – 2 visits this month

·      When we have a public meeting, we should have membership forms available.
