Rockland Neighbourhood
Association: Graffitti
Adopt A Pole
Program: Graffiti on Hydro Poles
The Board of Directors of the Rockland Neighbourhood Association is
pleased to announce the Adopt A Pole Program to address the problem of
graffiti on BC Hydro poles in the neighbourhood.
Under this program, neighbours may "adopt" the hydro poles in front of
their houses and paint over any graffiti as it occurs. Inconspicuous
colours such as brown or green are recommended. Immediate removal of
graffiti tends to discourage more graffiti in the neighbourhood.
BC Hydro's policy on graffiti is that BC Hydro will respond and remove
graffiti when it is:
· Socially
offensive, e.g. obscenities, racial or religious slurs
· In
high-profile or sensitive areas, e.g. adjacent to schools, churches and
community centres.
When neither of the above criteria applies, BC Hydro will provide
interested members of the public with graffiti removal materials and
instructions on how to use them.
